In today’s fast-paced world, where schedules overflows and 24 hours seems too short, it’s no surprise that health would take a backseat. This is especially true in the hustle and bustle of corporate life, where the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle often gets sidelines. However, with the 21st century recognising that health is more than the absence of diseases, companies are beginning to realize the significance of employee well-being. Many companies are now turning to innovative solutions to promote health within the workplace.
One effective tool for enhancing employee well-being is integrating webinars within corporate wellness programs. These online health talks offer a convenient platform for employees to access valuable health information without disrupting their work routines. They provide a flexible learning environment, allowing staff to participate from the comfort of their desks and maximizing knowledge absorption while attending to their professional duties. It’s precisely this balance of convenience and effectiveness that International Medical University (IMU) had in mind when prioritizing their employees’ well-being.
On 21st February, coinciding with World Cancer Day, we launched our inaugural webinar with IMU titled “Empowering Your Plate: Cancer-Fighting Strategies You Should Know About”. Led by our dietitian, Clara, the session explores the deep relationship between cancer & diet – highlighting how processed and red meat can pose carcinogenic risks. Furthermore, Clara debunked several nutrition myths related to cancer. Not forgetting to also share practical tips for cancer-safe grilling/barbecuing, such as pre-cooking proteins to minimize exposure to direct flames that could activate carcinogenic compounds.
The session proved to be an enlightening experience for the IMU staff, leaving them excited for more nutrition knowledge, as well as practical tips to incorporate into their daily lives.
To maintain momentum, we capitalized on the opportunity to align our subsequent webinar with the theme of empowering individual health, coinciding with International Women’s Day, a celebration of women’s strength and wellness worldwide. Thus, we curated a webinar titled “Fierce, Fabulous, and Fit: Nutrition for Women’s Wellness”. In this session, our dietitian, Amirah delved into the unique nutritional needs of women at various life stages. Amirah also took this chance to address the ever-going topic of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and provided insights into it nutritional management for symptoms relief.
Embarking on a healthier lifestyle can be daunting, but it can begin with small steps, like attending a health webinar. We’ve witnessed firsthand how these webinars can empower employees to make informed decisions about their overall well-being. Join us in prioritizing employee health by making these webinars available through our corporate wellness programs. Together, let’s take a step towards cultivating a healthier, happier workforce.
